Got a house on the market? Now, more than ever is the season to home stage that property if you want to get it sold! As the Holiday Season approaches, it’s harder to get buyers attention and show your house.
So, if you haven’t already done so, invest a little time and effort to stage your house to sell. If you’re living there while it’s on the market, you’ll want to go through it like a buyer would, noticing all the little flaws you’ve learned to live with. Re-paint if the colors are not neutral or the walls are dirty or marred. Home staging is also about de-cluttering your house so it shows off the features of the house and the space! Remove uneccessary furniture to open up the rooms. Put away little trinkets and collections (you don’t want these stolen, and they will distract buyers). Take down your treasured photos of family and put up some neutral art.
If you have a vacant property on the market, nothing helps more than adding selected pieces of furniture. That shows “scale” or helps people visualize what will fit in the rooms. Without furniture, rooms look smaller and a lot of folks don’t think their stuff will fit. Besides, home staging helps bring emotion into the house with some decorative touches like artwork, plants and a few items sitting around. Sometimes as a home stager, I like to set the table with festive or elegant place settings. Then, people can imagine themselves entertaining there. Once they start seeing themselves moving in and living there, you’re one step closer to getting it sold.
Home staging is a key piece of the puzzle to show off your house and sell it quickly and for the best price. When you don’t stage a property, it doesn’t show as well and buyers may find little flaws that they will use to negotiate a lower price.
Remember: Home staging is the investment that pays you back! You don’t have to invest a lot – just prepare it well so it attracts lots of hungry buyers!
