Got a small house or a very small room and need to show it off to it’s best advantage? Many of the older homes, have small rooms or they seem to be “cut-up” making it hard to arrange furniture. Let’s look at some ways you can make the most of these rooms with home staging.
- One way is to use small scale furniture. A lot of people have furniture that is too large for the space – by choosing furniture that has a smaller frame or less “puff” it will fit into the rooms better
- Leave out some of the furniture – this is a cardinal rule in home staging. If you have a few well-choosen main pieces that are functional, leave out the smaller “accent” furniture to make the room appear more “roomy”
- Cut the clutter! A lot of cute, little stuff sitting around or on the walls will make the room seem to close-in. Choose one main piece of art and make it the focal point. One item on a coffee table, etc
- Not all the furniture needs to go up against a wall – leaving some space behind or around it allows your eye to take in the extra space
- Keep the colors simple – too much going on with patterned fabric, busy rugs, artwork and more only adds to the cluttered illusion.
Let these ideas guide you as you decorate your home or stage a home. They work well no matter what!
