Leather sofas in a Living room after home staging

Open and airy arrangement

Home Staging Tip – Arranging Your Furniture should be easy, right? But if you aren’t careful, your room can look unbalanced, lop-sided or just “frumpy!”  So how do you give your rooms a designer look and make your house stand-out on the market?

Simple rules for home staging and arranging furniture:

  • Don’t line furniture up along the walls! Show some space between the wall and your heavier pieces.
  • Balance heavy pieces of furniture like the sofa, with a pair of chairs across from it; or a heavy chair with a side table and large plant
  • Don’t clutter up the room with a lot of small pieces. In home staging, “less is more,” so get rid of the fussy little pieces like extra tables, plants and uneccessary chairs.
  • Use a rug to pull an area together. Create a conversation area by placing furniture on a rug-it gives it a cozy feel
  • Use larger pieces of art on the walls instead of a lot of small ones. Neutral art, well-placed has more impact than a collection of art or family photos.

Remember, with home staging, your goal is to sell your home and move on.  So be mindful of showing off the features of your house rather than your collections, personal items and treasures!
